Les Landmeier (above, left) wins the
Asgrow High Management Soybean Yield Contest
for the Monsanto Northeast Illinois Territory.

In the inaugural year of the Monsanto High Management Soybean Yield Contest, Hintzsche is proud to be a partner with of the District winner, Les Landmeier. Hintzsche signed up 14 entries into the program. Les finished 5th in the overall region (Region is Northern IL and Wisconsin). Congratulations Les!

The program was instituted to focus growers on more intense management, like we do corn. This corresponds to the direction we at Hintzsche have been trying to lead our growers over the last few years. The days of just planting, spraying with Roundup and harvesting are over. The last two growing seasons have exhibited a huge difference in results for growers who have intensified their management of weeds, diseases and insects.

The winning yield was 70.9 bushel per acre
The winnig variety planted was Asgrow AG 2406
The rest of the winning “recipe” Les used was:

Corn in 2007
Fall ripped 2007
0-30-90 applied in fall 2007
Seed treated with Cruiser Maxx Seed treatment
Planting rate was 152,000 seeds per acre in 30” rows
Planting date was 05-25-2008
This field had two applications of Roundup PowerMax, HZ-70 was included one trip
The whole field was treated with Leverage insecticide at 3 oz. per acre on 7-30-2008
One half of the field was also treated with 6 oz. Headline fungicide on 7-30-2008
Field was harvested on 10-13-2008

Les also had an entry from another field that weighed in at 69.5 bpa (DKB26-53)

For being the district winner Les received a $1,000.00 prize. In addition, $1,000.00 will be donated to the Hinckley-Big Rock FFA.
